Mini Laptop – A Perfect Choice For Cheaper Computing Needs

In today’s fast-paced world almost every middle-class household has a personal computer. It has become an essential investment to keep up with the lifestyle of the modern world. But personal computers have certain limitations and one of its major drawbacks is non mobility.

What if you want to work while on the go, or students who want to conduct field research on the internet, or businessmen who travel a lot and want to keep their work going while traveling. Laptops were an answer to these challenges. But not everyone can afford to spend $600-$1500 on this portable option of personal computers.

That’s when manufacturers introduced netbooks or mini laptops or mini notebooks. They are a lighter, more compact and portable version of a standard laptop. And what’s more, they are quite inexpensive as compared to its bigger counterpart. You could own a mini notebook for around $200-$500 depending on its specs and of course it’s brand.

With screen size as small as 7 inches, Asus was the pioneering company to introduce mini laptops to the market which was almost two years ago. But since then computer manufacturers have introduced almost two dozen more brands in the market today.

All of them are one better than the other with versatile features and excellent technology to suit all the customer’s requirements. The mini notebook is very small and portable with a screen size between 7 to 10 inches. But the latest more modern versions have a bigger screen of around 12 inches. But it’s still smaller than the standard laptop screens which are usually 12 to 17 inches.

Netbooks work on a less powerful processor and they do not contain optical drives such as CD/DVD-ROM. Having said that, they are still a popular choice among people who need a computer for basic office productivity, internet browsing, chatting and emailing, and to listen to music and watch videos and pictures. There is a vast range of mini notebooks that you can consider. They are an affordable option to get your job done while on the go.

Some of the well-known netbooks in the market today are the Dell Inspiron, HP Mini 1000, Samsung NC10, Asus EEE PC 901, EEE PC 1002HA and the most popular one is the Sony VAIO P Series. All these mini notebooks are priced under $400 except the Sony VAIO which is the most expensive mini laptop priced at $1,200, but it’s every bit worth its price tag.

These are just a few brands of mini laptops available in the market today. If you do a web search on mini notebook, you will get a wide range of netbooks with different configuration and styles. Although netbooks are reasonably priced, you should also consider vital specs such as processor, HDD space, memory space and screen and keyboard size.
